Here's an eye opening article on the problems with USB-C. The short answer is not that the USB-C standard is broken, but the way that manufacturers implement it is. Hopefully this will resolve itself as USB-C becomes more established. The connector that was supposed to rule them all is turning into the greatest fraud of our lifetime.
