We have a WD Elements 1TB HDD which suddenly isn't recognised by Windows and we can't access it. However, when booting to Linux Mint Live on USB, I was able to copy some folders that we needed, but one folder wouldn't copy completely, so I had to copy the files individually. When using chkdsk /f h: in a command prompt, no errors are found and the option to format is available.
